A Sad Day

My brother Jamie's Yellow Lab Caine was diagnosed with Lyphoma a few days after Halloween. He was acting odd, and gagging Halloween night and when he was brought into the vet that Monday morning they gave him emergency surgery to remove a softball size tumor from around his heart.

He made it through the surgery fine with some minor nerve damage but they only removed 90% of the cancer. The vet said it would return in different spots of his body eventually.

He was started on chemo last week and started to deteriorate fast. He was having trouble breathing, vomiting, urinating in the house, and shaking. He wasn't the same dog anymore.

My brother took him into the vet last night and decided it was time to let him go. An hour later he was humanly put to sleep.

I know my brother did what was right but it completely breaks my heart. I wish I had the oppertunity to say goodbye to Caine.

Caine- I am comforted by knowing you are no longer in pain. Seeing you the last few times in your condition made me sad for you and my family. You were a great family dog and we will all miss you! Thank you for all the love you gave to my family in the last 5 years.

Rest In Peace Sweet Boy!

  1. SO SO sorry about the loss of Caine...pets are awesome and so easy to bond with so their loss is deeply felt. Pets are always there for us...never judging...and always loyal. Again sorry for the loss of your beloved Caine.
